Meet Kurt
Real leadership starts at home, and grows from the ground up.
Kurt Wedekind is a proud father of three, grandfather of two, cattle farmer, and passionate advocate for health, community, and sustainable living. A graduate of Mt. Saint Joseph High School, Kurt learned early the value of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, principles that continue to guide him today. He later continued his education at the Institute of Applied Agriculture at the University of Maryland, deepening his knowledge of farming, land stewardship, and sustainable practices. With Maryland roots going back generations, Kurt has seen firsthand the state’s strengths and also its growing challenges. As more retirees are forced to leave Maryland in search of more affordable living, and as taxes increasingly show up under the guise of “fees,” Kurt knows it’s time for real change. He’s running for governor to bring some common sense back to Annapolis, protect our state’s most vulnerable citizens, and fight for policies that actually serve the people, not the system. Faith and family are at the heart of everything Kurt does. When a serious medical diagnosis struck his loved ones, it changed his outlook forever. It deepened his reliance on faith, strengthened his commitment to family, and set him on a path toward healthier, more intentional living. That turning point sparked the creation of Wedekind Farms, a family-run operation producing 100% natural, grass-fed beef and pork, and care for both animals and people. When he’s not tending livestock, Kurt is preparing for hunting season, enjoying a quiet round of golf, or enjoying the outdoors with his family. He believes in strong families, resilient communities and policies that put people first.
